Contents

Research Area

Chemical Biology, Chemistry, Biology, Bioinformatics, Microbiology, Botany. Work emphasis is on drug development from flora, design & process and molecular Modeling. The major areas of research include standardizing the agro technology of Medicinal and Aromatic plants, their propagation techniques , isolation of active fraction/s and single molecules from such plants. Screening for the bioactivity of these plants extracts/ fractions and molecules and exploiting the microbes for useful reactions. Identification and standardization of the chemotypes and genotypes of the plants by the molecular finger printing. IIIMJ is also involved in the screening of microbial wealth from niche areas of North West Himalayas for the isolation and application of useful enzymes for industrial processes. Several enzymes like lipase/esterase, peroxidase, oxido-reductase, nitrilase and glucosidase have been identified and their functional properties established.
