Dr. Harisingh Gour University (or Doctor Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya), formerly University of Saugar, was established on 18th July 1946 by Dr. Harisingh Gour by his lifetime saving. This university was 18th University of India and the oldest University of Madhya Pradesh. Sauger University has been founded by the munificence of Sir Hari Singh Gour's (Nov. 26.1870 – Dec. 25. 1949) hard earned money of about two crore of rupees.
