Advanced Materials and Processes Research Institute (AMPRI), Bhopal previously known as Regional Research Laboratory, Bhopal was instituted in May 1981. This is a CSIR laboratory. Dr. PK Rohatgi, eminent metallurgist is the founder director of this laboratory. This laboratory started its functioning from Delhi and then it was moved to Bhopal in December 1983.

Metallurgy, Chemistry, Physics of materials. Work emphasis is on material development, design & process and Resource Modeling. Currently thrust area selected are
- Light material product development for automobile and aerospace applications.
- Natural fiber (specially Sisal fiber) based products.
- Material out of Industrial wastes and wastes management.
